Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Piatt County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be kept long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can create routine technical records about the visit, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- Device IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent
- Referring site, when available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files used to understand traffic patterns, such as popular pages and points where visits end. Analytics providers can combine this information into site-performance reports. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a query to the provider selected by the search tool
- Operate, maintain, and improve site speed
- Measure which content visitors use
- Diagnose errors and security concerns
- Display advertising that may reflect user interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Piatt County Criminal History does not operate, compile, or sell a personal criminal-record database. Its content identifies request routes at the Piatt County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification, and Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry. Illinois FOIA, 5 ILCS 140, governs many agency-record requests, while UCIA, 20 ILCS 2635, governs public ISP conviction information. Visitor information is not assembled into a report about another person. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search tools. Information submitted there is governed by the selected provider's privacy policy and retention practices. Those practices are beyond this site's control, so review the provider's policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Piatt County offices, Illinois agencies, court systems, legal resources, or commercial tools. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy terms apply. Review them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across sites and select ads. Their tracking is subject to their policies.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- Advertising networks serving page advertisements
- Analytics vendors measuring use and performance
- Search providers processing a submitted query
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when valid legal process requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security measures are used to protect collected information. No internet transmission or storage system can guarantee absolute security, so unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be deleted when a valid request is received.
Your Data Rights
Available rights depend on residence and applicable law, including the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, 815 ILCS 505. Where the law provides, a user may:
- Request deletion of eligible personal data
- Seek access to personal information held about the user
- Ask for inaccurate information to be corrected
- Object to qualifying forms of processing
